CLASS HISTORY On August 31, 1936, thirteen little children started to school with Miss Marie Harman as the teacher. Of the thirteen that started together there were only eight of them in t.he present graduating class. They were as follows: Mary Jensen, Dixie Larson, James McMahon, Verlee Petersen, David Piper, Robert Olson, Lyla Wiese, and Charlotte Young. The others that began with us were, Ruby Bandow, Allen Juhl, Raymond Hiatt, Kathryn Lakers, and Virginia Mulligan. During the past twelve years of school life, several new students joined our class and others moved away. Virginia left us after the first semester to go to country school. At the beginning of the fourth six weeks period Kathryn started to school in Fiscus. At the ripe age of six, we were transplanted to the second grade. Allen Juhl re- mained behind that year. Miss Cardigg was our teacher. We as third graders, were directed by Miss Maxwell. Joyce Anvick became a new member of our class. We started our fourth grade with the same students except for Joyce who transferred to country school. Wilma Anderson was our new teacher. We all climbed into our fifth grade seats with the addition of Joyce. That year we studied with a new teacher, Miss Heirsche. Miss Williams became our sixth grade teacher. Joyce again returned to country school. Jim Swanson and Louis Schweisow were new additions to our class, but Louis left us before the year ended. ln the seventh year, Mr. Harvey was our instructor. Ramona Jensen came into our ranks at the beginning of the second semester. The eighth grade found us with Miss Betty Lou Ahrenholtz as our teacher. Ruby Bandow left us that year to go to school in Manilla. ln September 1944, the freshmen were joined by Dorothy Juhl, Merlin Flug, John Frees, Leslie Burger, and Betty Hemminger from various country schools. We began that year with Mr. Garlock, Miss Moeller, Miss Huey, and Miss Fogarty. As sophomores we had as our teachers, Mr. Garlock, Miss Moeller, Miss Huey, and Mrs. Hennis. Mrs. Hennis left shortly a.fter school began. Mr. Thompson came that year at Christmas time. The teaching staff for our junior year was as follows: Mr. Miller, Miss Platts, Mr. Watson, Mrs. Hennis and Mr. Thompson. That year we lost Leslie Burger who gave up school to become a full-fledged farmer. Ramona left us to finish school in Harlan. And now here we are, mighty and ambitious seniors, waiting for our hard earned diplomas. Much to our regrets we lost John Frees who had to quit school, because of an automobile mishap last summer. It won't be long until all our high school days will be history and we will be members of that growing organization, the Irwin Alumni Association.
