TO RIGHT: G. Schade, M. George, D. Good, Mr. McMunn. OFFICERS President ..,A.....,..,....,. ....... D ON Goon Vice-President ....,.,.., GEORGE SCHADE Secretary 4---... MONA LEE GEORGE Adviser... ...,.., MR. MCMUNN Zyh th 72112 The students of the eighth grade this year have set a high standard for the on- coming class to match. Having the same homeroom teacher for two successive years would have disturbed most classes, but when the teacher was Mr. McMunn, they did not mind a bit. They loved to hear Joe's jokes and to postpone a class by skillfully getting him started talking about sports. An unusually large number of eighth graders were outstanding in scholarship. Those on the honor roll were Larry Milburn, Janice Cooley, Mona Lee George, Colin Nor- berg, Charles Patton, Jean Sam, George Schade, John Waugaman, Paul Cole, and Lynn Holloman. Almost all of the members of this lively class found time to take part in at least one of the school's activities. Those boys who will be future members of our varsity squad and who this year played on the junior high basketball team were Bill Cummings, Don Good, John Waugaman, George Gongaware, Colin Norberg, and Charles Patton. Larry Milburn was the team manager. Jean Sam and Mona Lee George were two of the junior high cheerleaders. The eighth grade was also well represented in the high school band and the Junior Girls' Chorus. Taking the parts of Santa's two helpers, Janice Cooley and Joanne Marchand had important roles in the Christmas Operetta. Having an interest in photography, Paul Cole and Stan Lunn gave their services to the Camera Club. Lynn Holloman and Janice Cooley were selected to represent their class at the Junior Red Cross meetings. So we see that the many at- tributes of this group will make them val- uable members of our senior high and an asset to our community in years to come. Being fun-loving and socially inclined, the eighth grade staged several parties. The first of these was a Hallowe'en Party which they held with the freshmen and seventh grade. Mr. Dudley, Mr. Shirley and Mr. Bowers highlighted this party when they arrived dressed as women. To have twins as classmates is quite unusual, but the eighth grade has them. Twins, Jean and Joann Sam, are quite popu- lar. Is it because of their smooth dancing? Will the boys and girls of this class ever forget such things as: Emory Lear and his late library books, Paul Cole's bashfulness, Sleepy Cook, or the kidding Colin Norberg took about his basketball scores? As next year's freshmen we are sure they will not lack talent and enthusiasm.
