SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The journey of the class of 1951 has just begun. We have made our first step toward life. As we entered O.H.S. on September 4, 1947, we were excited and thrilled by the thought that we were in high school. Our principal, Mr. M. S. MacDonald, welcomed us and did much to make us feel at ease. We had a happy and profitable year. In 1948 as sophomores we had fun initiating the freshmen into clubs and other activ- ities. We carried on the work of getting an education and enjoyed this year very much. On September 5, 1949, we entered O.H.S. feeling very enthusiastic over the coming year. We had looked forward to this year as we were given the responsibility of giving the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. This was a success and everyone had a good time. We looked forward to the school term of 1950 more than any previous year for this was the highlight of our school career. Our class now numbered seventy-four. The Osceolan, was our project for the year. We have worked hard, but we have enjoyed working with Miss Prude, our sponsor, on this worthy project. We are also looking for- ward to the class play with anticipation. Our efforts throughout our school career will be climaxed by the class trip to Washington in the spring. We think our high school days have been well supervised and feel much indebted to our teachers and advisors throughout these years, who have taught us so faithfully. Those of us who have plans to continue our education in college and those who plan our way in the world, know we have a good foundation to build on. MARY JANE McMILLAN Class Historian CLASS POEM We the Seniors of '51, Can say with conscience clear, That these school years at O.H.S. Will always be held dear, To you our teachers and classmates, It’s hard to say good-bye, We’ve been together these many years, And though of parting may bring tears, But when these school days are over, Tho our ways apart may lie, Still we’ll love and cherish, Thoughts of Ocilla High.
