O I This years J.V. Softball team was coached by Mr. Tierney. The teams co-captains were Kim Barker and Theresa Leyva. The veteran players returning from last year were Theresa Leyva, Kim Barker, Laura Hollenshead, Caroline McKernon, and Eileen McLain. Coach Tierney said he expected the team to do very well even though it was very young and inexperienced. He felt the areas that needed extra work were third base, catching and pitching. The strong areas were hitting with Theresa Leyva and Laura Hol- lenshead, and speed with Michelle Knowles and Tina Houston. The general opinion of the players was that they would take the M.V.A.L. Cham- pionship, making it the sixth victory in the last seven years. , . They had six returning starters: Cheryl Cano, Tracy Birdwell, Teresa Martinez, and Nikki Winovich. Tracy Birdwell and Nikki Winovich were this year's captains.
