Returning lettermen on the varsity wrestling team were Donny Barnes, Rich Figueroa, Gary Gibson, Jerry Palmer, Sam Rodri- guez, and Eric Tornoe. Sam Rodriguez returned this year as last year's first place Mission Valley Athletic League Champi- on, Jerry Palmer returned as second place league champion, and Gary Gib- son returned as third place league champion. Varsity team captains were Donny Barnes and Jerry Palmer. He felt that if ev- eryone stayed healthy, they would have an interesting season. This year's track season started in March and ended in ' X June. -Quinn ,4- According to Coach Buum, some of the greatest assets of the team were Rex Bar- ber in long distance, John Griffith in low hurdles and middle distance, Bobby Smith in hurdles and sprints, Fred Wood- ward in middle distance, Ron Ely in middle and long distance, Jeff Gardner in sprints ,,,,, ,,L,2,,,,- ,i, :, and middle distance, Todd Cramer in pole vault and triple jump, and Randal Watson and Chris Knight in shot put and discus.
