,NNRN 'lib ian, L- ivir. Richard eiudici ff ,,,.,....---f Webster defines courage as that Quality of mind which enables one to meet danger and difficulties with firmness. Quality of mind implies that courage is something that is within each of usp thus it is something that is different for every person. Something that is seen as a danger or difficulty for one person may be easy for another. Courage is not an act of heroism on the field of battle. That act might be more fear than courage - an act of self-preser- vation. For some an act of courage might simply be to speak before a class or ask a girl for a date. Some need courage to face a test in the class that is difficult for them. . , or to face their peers when their beliefs and standards are different from their own. The greatest courage may be displayed when we stand up for and defend a principle that we be- lieved in regardless of pressure and harrassment from our peers. Courage is something each of us posesses. It is critical that we use our courage for just causes and the betterment of ourselves and others.
