SOFTBALL VARSITY This years team has many outstanding players. The team is quite strong and will prove itself even stronger as the season goes on. CROSS COUNTRY The boys and girls cross country teams had a very successful season. The boys var¬ sity had a 7-1 season, losing only to Mis¬ sion San Jose. The boys frosh-soph team also won seven and lost one. The girls var¬ sity won seven and lost one also. The varsity boys placed second in the MVAL as did the frosh-soph boys and the varsity girls. Outstanding performers for the boys were juniors Rich Moraida, Mike Ga¬ vin, Pat Carroll along w ith sophomores Sky Adgie, Jim Pena and Tony Brown. Rick Mo¬ raida and Mike Gavin were All-MVAL per¬ formers, placing eighth and ninth respec¬ tively. Sky Adgie placed second, Jim Pena placed fourth and Tony Brown placed sixth in the MVAL finals for frosh-soph. The varsity girls did a super job. The most outstanding was Debbie Bitz. Debbie was MVAL champion, placed fourth in the NCS Division I meet and fourth in the NCS finals. Debbie was selected on the All Northern California girls cross country team and also on the All-East Bay girls team. Maureen Henry, a freshman, was All- MVAL placing fourth and Joelene Helms, also a freshman, was All-MVAL placing tenth. The girls team placed fourth in the Divi¬ sion I meet and tenth in the NCS finals. Outstanding considering they had one ju¬ nior, one sophomore, and four freshmen on the team.
