CLOSE UP CLOSE-UP is an organization funded by the federal government and private businesses. It was devel¬ oped to give High School students an opportunity to get a close-up look at how our government works. Students spend a full week in Washington D.C. hearing speakers, attending seminars, meeting state representatives and other interesting and important people. Some of the extra highlights of the trip were a tour of Washington by night and a free afternoon for per¬ sonal touring of Washington. Pictured left to right: Bottom row: Phyllis Home, (President), Samantha, Sally Breck, Top row: Lai Ho Chan, (co-Vice President), Mr. Jim Blossom, Colleen Anderson. Not pictured: Chris Crescibene, Mark Foster, (co-Vice Presi¬ dent), Tonia Equina. Skiing is a fun and ex¬ citing sport but it is also expensive. In order to bring down the costs the club was involved in fund raising events. An Anything Coes Con¬ tes t with student teams SKI CLUB vs. the faculty team was one of the most enjoy¬ able events they spon¬ sored for both the par¬ ticipant and the spectator. The members also sold Gift Check Books to raise money. Each year the club goes on four to five weekend trips with 15-20 mem¬ bers. The group always has a great time skiing and being with other skiing enthusiasts.
