V r I have a gamut of feelings as my four years of affiliation with Irvington draws to a close. My Freshman year held feelings of confusion and strange¬ ness that quickly became ones of unity and belonging. It ' s very disheartening to me to see these emotions diminishing with everyone, i.e. Spirit Week, rallies, dance attendances. This institution, called school, has been hit so hard by social alterations along with people who turn to crutches in face of responsibility. I ' m not exactly sure what the principal fac¬ tor in this enigma is, but I sincerely hope it is rectified for the well being of our society. I feel the initiative must come from us students for parents only open fire when there is trouble and certain administrators walking through the halls telling people to go to class is definitely not the answer. I ' ve enjoyed my three years at Irvington. I truly hope that all the underclassmen can find some pleasure also. There are some great teachers around here, (some not so good too!) but education, (Whatever it is) taken in the right per¬ spective can be enjoyed. Enough philosophizing!! Now it is time to pay tribute to my friends and family that have listened to me bitch about getting advertising and ir¬ responsibility of my staff. This yearbook has been one of the biggest hassles of my life, but I ' m glad it turned out de¬ cent. Our theme didn ' t make it, Wade, but that ' s okay. This Class of 78 has gone through quite a bit from new required courses-C.D.M. to a junior Prom somewhere other than Sunol. As I recall we went through a few attendance 208 systems too! We were the wonderful class that got denied a rightfully deserved first place in last years Spirit Week. I ' m sure that this loss had an effect on the overall spirit exhib¬ ited this year. We also were the beloved class with the offi¬ cers of tainted reputations. I think you guys have done a terrific job no matter what. One last thing I ' d like to mention. It is in regards to the Strike. There may be a number of young people who felt that such action was wrong, but you may not have consid¬ ered all of the circumstances. I got into some trouble with my position during this event, as I may now, but I want to express my thanks and respect for you students who sup¬ ported the teachers and their convictions. Special thanks goes to Stephe Landon for making my page beautiful I should thank Terri Martin for being in Northern Calif, where it was taken. Well, what do you think of it Andrea? Did I MENTION enough Patti? It was a nice try with the skit Cindy. This isn ' t what you read before is it David? Dear Mr. Franco I know I wouldn ' t admit that you aren ' t a grump in public, but you really are pretty nice and HANDSOME right? The best of luck to you and your wife. Take care of yourselves Class of 78! I wanna see you all
