Girls’ Fall Sports Ever since the 1972 Summer Olympics the inter¬ est in gymnastics has become increasingly popular everywhere including Irvington. This year’s gymnastic team showed great dedica¬ tion and ability in their performances. The novice team finished the year with 1 win and 6 losses. Both Linda Hammond and Donna Pera performed very well on the beginner team, with the team having 4 wins and 3 losses. With only three team members, Shari Butler, Carol Domeier, and Jodi Goldman, the intermediate team earned 1 st place in the MVAL by having an undefeated season. This year’s winning gymnastic team was coached by Miss Pickup and Mrs. Anderson. Although this year ' s field hockey team had only 2 wins out of 7 games (and 1 game tied) they were champions in their efforts and enthusiasm. The team’s most valuable player was Julie Go- heen and Sue Fracisco earned the title of “Miss Hustle.’’ Gayle Paulsen and Kerry Bryan shared the title of most improved. Though the scoreboard didn’t favor the Irvington side too often, it did provide the Frosh team with experience, which will improve the skills of each player for next year. Tennis Under the coaching of Miss Hammes this years tennis team won 7 out of 10 games. Patti Swihart, the team captain, and Cathy Smith were named MVAL champions for their undefeated performances. Patti was also named most valuable player. The most dedi¬ cated players were Julie Orner on the varsity team and Kelly Burk on the JV team. Barrie O’Donnell earned the most improved title.
