Ferguson Evelyn Rose District Superintendent Superintendent’s Secretary The Board of Education designs the course of the school district. They make the rules with which the schools operate, and also do the hiring, usually with the recommendation of the district. This year the student representative to the Board is the A.S.B. President of America, Gayle Savage. Irvington is fortunate to have counselors that advise students on course se¬ lection, college opportunities and other activities related to school. Career opportunities, aptitudes and abilities are carefully analyzed and discussed with the student so that the best choices can be made. Communication and problem solving are the main techniques used to help the student identify his or her values, needs, ideals and goals. Student self-understanding is the key “service” provided by counselors.
