Viking BLock V During the past two years this service organization has done much to improve Irvington High School. The Block I has sponsored its annual Boogie Night Slave Day and Dances. Members also work during basketball games and wrestling matches. Block I stands for sportsmanship, leadership and service. Their advisor is Coach Sinnott which really kept the club going. QirIs Block “1” The Girls Block I Club, is an organization of girls who have earned 500 or more G.A A points. They receive points by participating with their best ability in the sports of their choice. During the year they have also sold T-Shirts and ski caps to earn money for their team uniforms. They also sponsored an awards night pot- luck dinner, at the end of the year. Their advisor who helped them make this such a successful year for Girls Block I was Miss Pickup. Eduardo arrived in the United States on September 29, 1973 and found that he had no family waiting for him. So he stayed with a Youth for Understanding Representative, Miss Montgomery. During the two week stay Eduardo says that he found love and understanding that he will never be able to repay. Now with his family, the Larson ' s he still has found love and has discovered the truly wonderful American life. Eduardo is sixteen and a junior who came from Chile, which he now calls a new country after suffering from political turbulence. Eduardo enjoys playing soccer, the guitar and being with his friends along with other hobbies. His plans for the future are to return home and to go to a University to study psychology, which he enjoys. y fo Reign exchange Students Bernadette came to Irvington from Portugal, along with her sister. Bernadette is a junior this year. She is staying with the Joaquin Abrey family. Encarna Faria is the other sister that came to Irvington from Portugal. Encarna is now a Senior but left Irvington at semester break. She too is staying with the Joaquin Abrey family. 88
