President Race Senior Steve Shores was elected Student Council president by a sweeping majority ot IHS student votes on October 8, 1958. Steve was one ot three candidates for the ottice, the other two being Roger McLeroy and Barbara Gwinn. Shores, in a speech before the student body, made campaign promises to change some areas of the constitution and to have a more enthusiastic Student Council in IHS. The losers also had ex- cellent speeches but they did not have the draw- ing power at the polls as Shores won by a land- slide. The Student Council, which sponsors the March ot Dimes program each year, collected a record amount of fISl57.l7. The Student Council is plan- ning an ugly man contest this year, however, plans were not definite when THE LAIR was sent to the publishers.
