Volleyball The Comettes finished the season with top honors Q winning first place trophy, the first to be won by Irrigon girls. We appreciate Mrs. Adams' co-operative spirit and efforts in making our season a success. 'Echo . . won Heppner . . lost Heppner . . won Echo ..... won 4'Stanfield . won 'Hermiston . . won 'Echo . . . won 'VI-lermiston . . lost 'Umatilla . won 'League Games Track Five boys turned out for the Irrigon track team. Mernbers were entered in the track meets at Mac Hi Carnival of Speed, Heppner, and Helix. Larry Filley won first place in. the 440 in all the meets plus placing in the 100 and 220. He also entered in the district meet at LaGrande where he qualified for the state meet by placing second in the 100, and third in the 440. He plac- ed third in the 100 at the state meet. LeRoy Connors also, placed in the 100 and ZZO at Helix and Heppner. Members of the track team: Larry Filley, LeRoy Connors, Fred Acock, Ray Shade, and Bob Adams. Tennis Irrigon had a very successful tennis team this year, winning all their matches.
