Band The Irrigon School Band enjoyed a very successful year under the direction of F, C. Reed. The annual concert was given April 13, 1950. The band played a large selection of nuznbers. The soloists, George Russell and Beth Warner, also participated. The band played during intermissions at ball games and for var- ious programs throughout the year. It was asked to play at Umatilla, for the Presidential Reception. The first contest we entered was at LaGrande on April Zlst and 22nd, The band and soloists received a rating of Hone . The band was given the privilege of participating in the state con- test at Eugene. The band received a three rating, soloists each receiving two . Sneak Day n The Senior Class left on their annual sneak day April 6th, bound for Newport. The boys and Miss Sharp enjoyed the trip to the fullest degree. Throughout the trip there was a violent duel between the occupants of the Adams car and the Filley Ford. At eve ry stop weapons were drawn and hardly a break in the firing. Light Fingered, Lefty Adams was wounded seriously in the left eye by a shot from Cross Drawn Poulson's gun, loaded with stagnet, old, repugnant water. Everyone re- covered from the trip except, Cross Draw Paulson who suffered seri- ously when his water gun was taken away from him. He soon recov- ered when he had a few good meals under his belt. In other words a good time was had by all. This memorable occasion shall live in the hearts of theiClass of '50 for many years to come. 19
