Class Prophecy It is May 19, 1980. Mr. Goldan, a portly, elderly gentleman, now retired, is walking down the street in the city of X. As he turned the corner of Fifth and B Street, he met a spry, elderly lady, whom he recognized at once, it is Miss Sharp. They stop to talk over old times when they taught in Irrigon High School. Of course you are retired, Miss Sharp, Oh! My no, replied Miss Sharp. l am teaching in the Progress Business College in Portland. I came here to meet my class of 1950. l am to have luncheon with them here at the club. Mr. Goldan looked at the sign on the building, Bachelor's Club , Yes, my boys are all bachelors. I was a good advisor to them and kept them out of trouble. Well, well, well, replied Goldan, what do they do, what are their occupations ? Oh, they are all fine men. Bob Adams is quite a politician. He has served two terms in the U.S. Senate and is now campaigning for the election to become the first Ambassador to Mars. Bob Critchlow is coach for elementary boys and girls. He teaches them basketball, volleyball, and football. He has a life job. Larry Filley is an Admiral in the U.S. Navy. He is at sea most of the time, we don't see him very often. Lavern Marlow and Ray Shade are comedians, we hear them on the radio quite often. Their show names are Pet and Slats. Don Poulson spends his time in the woods. He is a forest ranger and lives at a ranger station for six months of the year. He lives at Timberline Lodge and teache a ladies' skiing class during his time off. Here come the boys now, glad to have seen you again, Mr. Goldan. Yes, Miss Sharp, I was glad to hear about the class of 1950. l think I shall just stop long enough to shake hands with the boys. Why not have luncheon with us? So we leave Miss Sharp and Mr. Goldan to have lunch with the Class of 1950 at the Bachelor Club. 9
