In a combined effort, the Lawrence Park and Wesleyville students have united in sports, in extra- curricular activities, and in setting new goals for the future. They knew that they had Kto be as one , the meaning of the ancient Indian word mewat , in order to set a strong founda- tion for the new school. Old traditions are but memories, and new, different traditions are the goals among which the 1966 BRAVERO is but a first. The two schools have met at the fork in the road, and will proceed as one, climbing to the heights of success. 3 FUTURE GRADUATES K Vu S Diane Abata Robert Ahrens Keith Alexander Christine Anderson David Aspden Rosemarie Avedisian Natalie Babine Mark Bainer Richard Bergstrom Linda Beute Larry Blake Allen Bowers David Bunnell Hugh Burgoon Mark Burick Ruth Butler Camille Cancilla Kathleen Cerutti Mary Cipalla John Comstock Joyce Craft Donald Crannell Margaret Cunningham Marjorie Cutt Marlene Cyphart Nancy Dalglish Richard Davis Harriet Deeb Charles Dengel Linda DeWitt Gregory Dick Patrick Donahue Nancy Driscoll Mary jo Duckett Dennis Dunford Dennis Eller William Elletson Frederick Ellrich Sally Engelskirger James Erdle Peggy Erven Donald Fickenscher Robyn Finch Ernest Finke Robert Forsten Cheryl Foster Lois Frank Susan Gashgarian Sally Geer Kathy Genest Patrick Gerity Lee Getty Patricia Godfrey Michael Goodwin Richard Graziano David Grzelak Richard Gustafson Richard Hagle Susan Halttunen Kathleen Hart Diane Hartman Christine Hayes Randy Hein Joan Helman Judy Helman Katherine Henk Craig Hill James Hinkler Kathryn Hosmer Luke Hulihan Pamela Janiuk Donald johnson 5 . . The members of the team are Doug Aiton, jack Armbruster, Gordan Bennett, jim Brickell, Richard Burkholder, Fred Butler, Hal Butler, Chris Dana, Bob Lieter, Henry Kopnitsky, Don Miller, Kevin Saxton, Tim Smock, Dan Tullio, and Bob Weismiller. Sr. High Wrestling Iroquois men of grappling action wrestled such established city squads as Academy, Tech, Prep, and East as well as the county's LeBoeuf, North- western, Fairview, Union City, Harbor- creek, and Girard groups this year. All home matches and practices were held in the Wesleyville gym underthe supervision of coaches Bottorf and Sinnott. junior Varsity conflicts were staged with Acad- emy at McDowell. Two high scorers were Dennis Perry and Keith Bartlett. Main events of the season included the Girard Tournament and the District Tournament which took place at Tech High School. Jr. High Wrestling Preceding every Varsity match, with the exception of the Prep bout, sports fans enjoyed the jr. High Preliminaries. Boys receiving jr. High letters for their participation in these events were: Ted Bartlett, Larry Cessna, Tom Conti, Mark Dunn, Tom Dugan, Tom Gerity, Dave Graham, Paul jazenski, john Pavlinko, Mark Robbins, Ed Trimmer, and Craig Turn- bull. Track and Field Placing second in the coun- ty, the Iroquois Track Team scored a successful season with four wins and only one loss. County recognition was attained by Bob Ball in the high hurdles, Dick Bonniger in the one hun- dred yard dash, and Tom Bennett in the mile run. .Aff Q W K, ,naw ff' ny 1 M 5, 'z ' ,f w BasebaH Tennk We are proud of our Tennis Team which has brought high honors to our school. This season, the team, lead by Mr. Lauffer, placed first in the county with an out- standing record of ten wins and two losses. Good sportsmanship is a term that well describes the attitude of this year's Iroquois Base- ball Team. Although they did not come out on top, the boys never lost their eagerness to play. We congratulate Mr. Farnbaugh whose experience and ambition helped him to introduce this sport into our school activities. Jr. GAA The Junior High GAA met once a week, usually on Tuesday nights. Under the leadership of their president, Mary Smock, they engaged in various sports such as basketball and volley- ball. This year two penny suppers were enjoyed by the girls, who are looking forward to future experience in the senior group. Sr. GAA The Senior High GAA met every Wednesday night to take part in a number of athletic activi- ties. In addition to their regular meetings, they had several penny suppers, bowling excursions, and beach parties. 73 SENICRS ! wg! 5'- 90 LYNN H. AARONSON NANCY J. ADAMS KATHY L. There, she lived in the city of Marilia and became a member of the Caval- lari family. Attending the Instituto de Educacao Monsenhor Bicudo, she took the Class- ical Course from which she proudly was graduated on December 16. Charlene expresses that it was a year to remember as well as a most rewarding one. AFS A shy smile is a trademark of our exchange stu- dent this year who came to us from Kabul, Afghanis- tan. Hasson broke the language barrier when he left his Persian behind to learn the completely different English language. RUTH PATERSON Advisor Yearbook Staff When the Yearbook is published in August, the staff can relax and hope the result is worth the effort. Long before that time, how- ever, the people pictured on these pages planned, worried, and work- ed, sometimes through hot June days. Photography, art, and layout problems presented themselves, were solved, and disappeared. That's how BRAVERO was born. Looking back, we find it is necessary to commend: Photographers Eric Menzel, Dick Bonniger, and Linda Parrish who collected a price- less assortment of pictures representing our school life, Art Editor Sharon Hewitt whose symbolic Indian design was selected for the cover of our book, and Advisors Mrs. Ruth Paterson and Miss Eliza- beth Hamburger for their assistance at all times. 100 Ingenious and dependable describe BRAVERO'S business, typing, and literary staffs. To Mr. Francis Catherine goes a special 'thank you . He supervised the business, circulation, and typing groups. His assistant in the Wesleyville building wasjim O'Keefe. Never at a loss for a word or witticism was the literary group, The original ideas and constant enthu- siasm of Pam Kopnitsky, Heidi Lewis, Charl Kein- holz, Judi Crum, and Linda Freeland subtly helped to develop the umewat' theme. Finally, for proof of the 'ttwo-that-shall-be-as one' idea we acknowledge our co-editors, Sandy Ben- nett and Kim Young who brought together and directed the staffs of the first IH S yearbook. Off The Track Wesleyville's Senior Play was presented on Friday, April 15. The three act comedy, entitled Off the Track, takes place on a stormy night in a small wayside railroad station. Passengers of a derailed train are obliged to wait there until they can continue their journey. Never to be forgotten were the many hilarious scenes, particularly the amusing character interpretations which were so ably portrayed by the students. Director was Miss jane Knic- kerbocker and Student Director was Lorraine Marko. Senior Plays Rally Round The Flag, Boys! The Senior Class Play, presented in the Lawrence Park building, was the patriotic comedy, 'Rally Round the Flag, Boysl' High praise was given in particular to the cast and to the early American setting and costumes. Long to be remembered scenes were 'tthe fight, the picnic, and 'tthe fire- works. Congratulations to Lori Honey and Jack Stager who received best acting awards for their performances. Director was Mrs. Jessie Lynn Skala and Student Director was Ethelynne Jacobs. nm ational Honor Society The National Honor Society represents a chosen segment of the student body selected by the faculty using as criteria the four major categories of scholarship, leadership, service, and char- acter.
