DEDICATION In June of 1987, we at Iroquois suffered a great loss when Mr. Patrick Collins was tragically killed in a car accident along with three of his Pembroke driver education students. During the final day of instruction, their driver education car was struck head-on by a drunk driver with disastrous results. In his earlier years, Mr. Collins served four years in the navy as a machinist's mate during the Korean War. He then attended Buffalo State College and received his degree in Industrial Arts which he taught for fifteen years at Eden. He began teaching at Iroquois as a substitute in 1982, and from 1983 through 1986 he taught Driver Education. His final year of teaching was as a driver education instructor at Pembroke. Mr. Collins enjoyed those activities which al- lowed him to share his time with his family. A dream of his, as a lover of adventure, was to reach the peak of a snow-capped mountain, a dream that came true for him on a trip to Califor- nia with his wife and children. We mourn and are diminished by this loss even though we are enriched by the legacy he left us. We, the Class of 1988, proudly dedicate our Iroquoian to the memory of Mr. Patrick Col- lins, a man who believed life must go on despite adversity. As life proceeds, so will the memory of him in the hearts and minds of us all. 4

Students were asked to show their spirit by wearing their favorite rock T-shirt, or by dressing up like their favorite rock star. Many did, including art teacher, Mrs. Russell, who not only dressed like John Lennon, but brought in her painting of him. She also held a contest in her art classes to encourage students to get involved. The students were asked to draw a picture of their favorite rock star and post it on the bulletin board. The winner was Mike Or- lowski, with his drawing of a Motley Crue member. Many teachers said they thought it was great to see different students get involved, not just the ones who usually do.' All in all, the day went well and the response for doing it next year was encouraging. 4 6 Opening
