The junior class won the wood contest; this is the first time in Iroquois history that the senior class didn't win this contest. next came the spectacular cheerleading pom- pom routine. The cheerleaders worked long and hard preparing the routine. The cheerleaders showed much energy and spirit as they waved their pom-poms, kicked their legs, and per- formed high quality moves to the tune of Lolli- pop, Lollipop , Old Time Rock 'N' Roll , and Be True To Your School . As the senior athletes were traditionally called down from the bleachers to have their faces painted, the confetti contest took full swing. After this contest, something new took place at the assembly. It was a Multi-Event re- lay . Five girls and five guys from each class, and five men and five women from the faculty volunteered to participate in the race. The events consisted of blowing up and popping bal- loons, egg carrying, puffing a flower and giv- ing it to a cheerleader, and buckling up on a chair. The freshman class was victorious. Homecoming 1987 This year's homecoming game against the Williamsville South Bil- lies was played in the bitter cold on October 10. The game did not start out in the Chief's favor as the Bil- lies marched down the field to score a touchdown and successful extra point. The second quarter showed some improvement, but the Chiefs could not halt the Billies drive. At the end of the first half, the score was 13-0 in favor of Williamsville. The halftime entertainment con- sisted of the band, the cheerlead- ers, and the class floats as they pa- raded around the track. During this time, the judges finished counting their points for the final float decisions. Each class worked long and hard constructing their floats with the help of their advisors. The judges, all from Iroquois, were Miss Gold- bach, Mr. Jacobs and Miss Schafer. First, second, third, and fourth places were taken by the sopho- mores, seniors, juniors, and fresh- men respectively. While the final decisions were be- ing announced, the second half of the game began. Matt Minich scored the Chief's first points of the game as he ran for a three yard touchdown. A successful field goal attempt by Lance lanello made the score 13-7 in favor of the Billies. The Chiefs' defense held strong against the Billies' offense until the fourth quarter when Williamsville scored another touchdown and two point attempt. The final score of the game was 21-7. That evening the Homecoming dance was held in the cafeteria. It was decorated with the theme THAT WAS THEM THIS IS MOW by the SGB members. The music pro- vided by John Barry kept every- body moving till midnight. Many chaperones commented that the kids all seemed to have a really great time without anyone getting in trouble. After the dance many people topped off the evening by going to parties or getting together with some friends. Opening 13
