BLEACHER CREATURES-AN IROQUOIS LEGEND Observers Are Participants Too Have you ever noticed that after every sports event, as the players walk off their field, people swarm around them with exhuberence and congratulations? This is well earned by the players for a hard and fine effort, but there probably wouldn't have been a victory with- out the support of the spectators. These are the people who, in the freezing cold, bitter rain, and driv- ing snow, endure it all to come and cheer their team on. Yes, the “BLEACHER CREATURES come to the games bundled up in the shape of pillows to endure the weather. Would the game be the same if the bleachers were empty? Not likely. Most games and activities are won 4 Opening because of the support shown to the team by the observers. It pumps up the players to strive for a victory. It makes a player feel good just to see people in the stands, cheering them on. You can always feel the power and spirit of the spectators, who spend hours on end making con- fetti to shower fellow observers with, and often making up their own cheers by throwing shreds of paper on anything that moves. We feel that the participants are not only on the court or in the field, but also in the stands, and should be congratulated and recognized. You know you couldn't do it with- out them.
