Legend What is legend in Iroquois? Is it the totem pole, a symbol of pride and unity i Is it our schools tradition such as our colors: red and white? Or our activities such as Homecom- ing, Senior Poll, the Spirit Award, and Carna- tion Day ? Legend is something that has been passed down through generations, and that is the way in which it will always be remem- bered. The spirit of Iroquois will never die. Opening J

Fritz Kohl was diagnosed in July of 1983. The diagnosis was immature taratoma - a brain tumor. The doctors and special- ists didn't know much about the tumor because it is very uncommon. Fritz had to undergo treatment and the type of treatment required six different types of drugs. The drugs made him very sick and after his cancer spread, they had to change the type of drugs. We asked Fritz's mother what special qualities he has and she explained, Fie has a special kind of courage that I have never seen before. Fie has said that he will never give up and he will fight until he can fight no more. Fritz has touched many people. Fritz still enjoys the pleasures of reading and doing cross- word puzzles. He also enjoys getting back to his school work. Fritz would like to say, Thanks to my parents and family for all their support through all the hard times. I would like to thank Camp Good Days and Special Times for showing me that even though I have cancer, I can still have a lot of fun. We the Class of 1986, proudly dedicate Legend to a young man who has been an inspiration to all of us. Fritz, your classmates wish you the best of luck! 2 Opening

BLEACHER CREATURES-AN IROQUOIS LEGEND Observers Are Participants Too Have you ever noticed that after every sports event, as the players walk off their field, people swarm around them with exhuberence and congratulations? This is well earned by the players for a hard and fine effort, but there probably wouldn't have been a victory with- out the support of the spectators. These are the people who, in the freezing cold, bitter rain, and driv- ing snow, endure it all to come and cheer their team on. Yes, the “BLEACHER CREATURES come to the games bundled up in the shape of pillows to endure the weather. Would the game be the same if the bleachers were empty? Not likely. Most games and activities are won 4 Opening because of the support shown to the team by the observers. It pumps up the players to strive for a victory. It makes a player feel good just to see people in the stands, cheering them on. You can always feel the power and spirit of the spectators, who spend hours on end making con- fetti to shower fellow observers with, and often making up their own cheers by throwing shreds of paper on anything that moves. We feel that the participants are not only on the court or in the field, but also in the stands, and should be congratulated and recognized. You know you couldn't do it with- out them.
