In December of 1892, Father Martin Kehoe, the pastor of St. Ambrose Church, asked the Sisters to come and teach in the grade school, then located on Ayer Street. Two years later, the high school was opened. We are truly grateful to all the Sisters who have served in the grade and high school these ninety years. Their dedication to Catholic education, their example of Christian values and their tireless service in working with youth is admirable. We pray that God reward them for their efforts. 1982 “Loner” Yearbook Staff 50 Years Roster of the Faculty There have been Franciscan Sisters serving Ironwood, Michigan from December 28, 1892 to the present. But, because of the limited space, the yearbook staff has only been able to print the names of the Franciscan Sisters for the last 50 years. 1930- 31 Sister M. Many people don’t realize how much work really does go into a yearbook. It takes many long and tedious hours. We, the editors, would like to thank Mr. Ronnie Surprenant for his time and effort spent taking pictures for the yearbook. Also, to Raymond Luczak for designing the year- book cover, and the Ironwood Area Chamber of Commerce for the use of some of their materials. Mr. Grenda, our advisor, spent much time and effort working with this year’s yearbook staff and we thank him for that. We thank also the people on the yearbook staff for donating their time and help and to the faculty for their help in many of the areas of the yearbook. We hope this year’s yearbook helps to preserve all your cherished memories of the past year. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Class Flower; Red Rose ■ Class Colors: Heather Gray and Wine • Class Song: “Do You KnSw Where You’re Going To?” (Theme From Mahogany) Do you know where you’re going to, do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to, do you know? ' J Do you get what you’re Hoping for? When you look behind you there's no open door, what are you hoping for, do you know? Once we were standing still in time, chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. And you know how I.loved you but my spirit was free, laughing at the questions that you once asked of me. Do you know where you’re going to, do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to, do you know? No looking back at all we planned, we let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we see how sad the answers to those questions can be? Do you know where you’re going to, do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to, do you know? Do you get what you’re hoping for? Lessons learned are like bridges burned, you only need to cross them once.” — Doug Anderson “I promise you, my love, for today and tomorrow; I promise you as much happiness as I can give; I promise not to doubt or mistrust you, but to grow and add to your life content ... I promise never to try to change you, but will accept the changes you make in yourself. And I will accept your love for me without fear of tomorrow, knowing that tomorrow I’ll love you more than I do today.” — Mary Beth Bonato “Don’t walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and just be my friend.” — Shari Ceccon “Give up your heart and you lose your ways. Trusting another to feel that way. Give up your heart and you’ll find yourself living for something and someone else.” — Mary Danielson “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it is yours; if it doesn’t, it never was.” — Tricia Fabbri “Here I come to save the day. Mighty Mouse is on his way.” — Steve Genisot “Look to this day ... for yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.” — Sandy Kapets “Making friends for the world to see, let the people know you’ve got what you need. With a friend at hand, you will see the light; if your friends are there, everything is alright.” — Susan Lantta “Don't be obsessed with the failures of yesterday; don’t worry over the problems of tomorrow, just be thankful for today.” — Mary Lauzon “Keep within your heart a place where dreams can go.” — Monica Lauzon “When you’re through improving yourself, you’re through.” — Mary Luczak “Seniors and Sophomores have one thing in common; they both think they know it all, but there is one difference . . . Seniors HAVE THE RIGHT TO.” — Dave Morrison Thanks for the times that you’ve given me, the memories are all in my mind.” — Dave Osterman “Yesterday is a memory and tomorrow is a dream, but today well lived makes every yesterday good to remember and every tomorrow a dream come true.” — Jerry Richards “I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday, and I love today.” — Debi Ruditis “The time has come when we all must part, but all memories will remain close to our hearts.” — Dana Ruppe “The important thing is not where we stand, but in what direction we are moving.” — Mary Supercynski “To live your life in your own way, to reach for the goals you have set for yourself, to be the you that you want to be . . . that is success.” — Susie Surprenant - J • J'w Don Armata Leticia Berset Carol Dowd Mary Dowd Kelli Carli Missy Evenstad Joanne Federico Chris Lauzon Greg Lukas Kari Pallin Tom Pallin 4 Keith Vardon President: Jim Vinoski Vice President: Paul Winters Secretary Treasurer: Chris Lauzon Student Council Representative: Keith Vardon Kathy Carli Paul DaPra Jeanine Forini Kathy Jo Fudeley Susan Lukas Melissa Makinder John McQuiggan Louis Lauzon President: Tony Genisot Vice President: Kathy Carli Secretary Treasurer: Melissa Mackinder Student Council Representative: John McQuiggan V; Greg Osterman Chris Pavlovich Sheri Gasparick Becky Lantta Nancy Olson Kerry Pavlovich Sean Winters 29 Ed Balduc Tanya Blanchard Leah DaPra David Kimball Wendy Lantta Fred Ruppe Tom Sobolewski President: Shelly Sybeldon Vice President: Leah DaPra Secretary T reasurer: Ann Gregory Student Council Representative: Rich Vinoski Michelle Sybeldon Rich Vinoski Mark Gregory Kevin Jordan Debbie Jurasin Therese Kimmes Allen Kytola Bill Kostopolus Andra Luczak Gerard Lukas Debbie Miller Mike Morgan Mark Lauzon Bobby Loftin Robert Mackinder Sherri Penegor Rich Makinen Jim Tibaldo Sherry (Jrsini Juli Vardon 35 Jacquie Armata Joanne Armata Mike Carli Randy Carlisle Kristen Clemens Dempsey Colasacco Mike Dowd Jim Foley Mike Foley Carissa Qasparick President: Carissa Qasparick Vice President: Sheri Penegor Secretary Treasurer: Mike Dowd Student Council Representative: Dempsey Colasacco i Jyl Qrandahl 36 Not Pictured: Missy Morris tlLiH rH LViHUt ” ir .. - h n ' ‘ v rganizations Student Council Officers President: Susie Surprenant Secretary: Susan Lukas Vice-President: Greg Lukas Treasurer: Dave Semenak 39 5tudent Council members First Row: L-R: Jerry Richards, President Susie Surprenant, Treasurer Dave Semenak, Secretary Susan Lukas, Steve Genisot.
