Valedictorian HQ? 756 7, Awe BACCALAUREATE With the processional of the class of 1960, Baccalaureate began. The invocation was given by The Reverend Roger L. Eells. The audience then ioined in the singing of For the Beauty of the Earth by Kocher. Reverend Roy Mozena read the scripture and Reverend Eells led in prayer. Gaul's, For God So Loved the World and Adams', The Holy City were sung by Mixed Cho- ruses ll and lll. Reverend Drell H. Goff de- livered an inspiring class sermon, The Great Essential. The benediction was given by Reverend Mozena. With the recessional of the Seniors, the Baccalaureate Service for 1960 closed. The organists were Thomas Cooke and Ruth Cardwell. The Tiger Clan presented its scholarship award and the outstanding Senior in each course was recognized. Awards were then presented by the Allied Chemical Corp. Semet Solvay Division, Dayton Malle- able, Kiwanis and Lions clubs. Ardys Leftwich played an alto sax solo, Cynthia. Marjorie Miller then delivered her valedictory address, The American Ideal. There were tears in the eyes of some Seniors as they sang the Alma Mater for the last time as undergraduates. Diane Hunter gave the closing prayer which was followed by the recessional. The organist was Regina Collins and the accompanist, John Boggs.

An outstanding man in the field of educa- tion, Dr. F. Bringle Mclntosh, President of Ohio Northern University, delivered the Commencement address to the Class of 1960 at Ironton Senior High School. THE MOST POWERFUL THING IN THE WORLD was the subject. His delivery, experience in many fields, vast background of knowl- edge, all combined to make a lasting impres- sion onthe class. if Dr, F. Bringle Mclntosh, D.D., LL.D. A diploma at last! Seniors stand with eyes fixed on the future. COMMENCEMENT The ninety-second annual Commencement of Ironton High School was held Friday, June 3, 1960, in the Senior High School Auditorium. The pro- gram began with the processional by the class of 1960 followed by the Board of Education and the Administration. After singi-ng The Star Spangled Banner, the audience remained standing for the invocation by the Reverend Roy Mozena. The Mixed Chorus III presented two selections: l'Il Walk With God, Brodsky, followed by The Lord's Prayer, Malotte. Mr. L. G. DeLong, Superintendent of Ironton City Schools, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. F. Bringle Mclntosh, President of Ohio Northern University, who chose as the topic of his address, The Most Powerful Thing In The World. Following the address, an organ solo, Benedictus, by Rowley, was played by Janice Collins. The following presentations were made: The Citizenship Award, a memorial from the Class of 1925, The Robert E. Christian Memorial, class of 1945, and the Girls' Athletic Association Award. Mrs. Enoch Allen, President of the Ironton City Board of Education, presented the diplomas. The service was closed with the benediction by Reverend Roger R. Eells and the recessional by the Class of 1960.
