Hey, Jud, what are you laughing about? Let the rest of us in on the joke, demanded Bob as he watched Judy walk down the hall toward the senior group. I was just looking through my diary for the last four years at IHS. You should hear what I wrote about us, Judy answered. 'gWell, .cut the suspense, unisoned the seniors. We,re always ready for a good laugh.', Okay. Hereis some from our freshman year. Gee, that was a long time ago. 'Dear Diary: I've almost gotten over being petrified of seniors. Most of them are nearly nor- mal! What a terrific basketball game tonight. Our bus was just packed and what a noise we made singing My Eyes are Dim and Six Pence . The boys are awfully shy, though. Most of them sit in the back of the bus and we girls in the frontf, Boy, I remember those away games but, thank heavens, we've changed seating arrangements some- what,', commented Bob. Hey, do you all remember our class party, 'Snowflake Fantasy'?', he added. We only used half the old gym and the boys stepped all over our inch high heels,', smiled Jo. What, do you mean the boys stepped on the girls, feet? You know it's always the girlis fault,', John said indignantly. f'0h, suref, returned Jo. i'Let's see, Bob See- bach was our illustrious president that year, wasn't he? Listen to this entry, Judy cut in. 'Dear Diary: live never had so much homework. I think the teachers are absolute fiends for making us work so hard. Miss Dilts assigned occupational reports and I'm going to write about ditchdigging just for spite! Tomorrow, Miss Collins is giving a final on Ulysses with essay questions and Mr. Williams said something about knowing our rocks and minerals for a little test. I just know Iill fail both of them., We thought school was hard that year but remember our sophomore year ?', asked Bob. Plane geometry would have killed me without Mrs. La- londe. Everyone else except me seemed so smart, especially in world history! Hey, I'll bet you girls remember dissecting frogs and worms, don't you?,' Let's forget about it, Judy quickly inter- GLASS HISTORY rupted. Listen to this. 'Dear Diary: We've started a new tradition by having a Soph Hop instead of a class party! We're calling it 'Fantasyland' and it's going to have a huge white castle as centerpiece. Jim Buchholz is directing everything as presidentf Gosh, that was fun, Jo smiled. Mom even let me get my first formal gown for it. Jud, let me read some, said John. Oh, do I remember this. Listen. 'Dear Diary: Footlight plays were just wonderful. I think our senior di- rectors took advantage of us, but Galloping Crand- ma, Minor Miracle and Uncrossed Boundary were probably successes because of it. ' Hey, don't you ever write about sports ? de- manded Bob. We won the swimming sectionals that year for the second tiine in a row and got the sectional ski title, too. I'll admit we didn't win championships in football or basketball, but we almost did in baseball. We even beat Brighton in both games! 'SHow could I forget?,' Judy laughed. I de- veloped a case of laryngitis at the first football game and kept it all year long! Miss Roberts appreciated it though. It cut down on my 'incessant chattering' in gym. MRemember our first Regents? asked Bob.- It was so hot that my pen kept slipping out of my fingers. They only lasted a week, but it seemed an eternity. What a relief the summer was! But I was so happy to go back to IHS in Septemberf' Judy added, even though the amount of homework had doubled since sophomore year. John, read what I wrote about it. Okay, 'Dear Diary: Miss Butler just told our American Lit. class that weid have six author reports next semester. I know what I'll be doing weekends! The Journalism students are already writing half of Rodequoit. Mr. Williams Inter- sperses his talesof the Navy with comments about how much work he expects us to do. Somehow, though, we never seem to live up to his hopesf I guess we did work pretty hard, didn't we? Jo added. But do you remember the unscheduled vaca- tion we got in February?', asked Bob. It snowed so much that they closed school for four days.
