CLASS LOG The Good Ship, Class of '54, sailed jaunt- ily into the Port of Irondequoit, lat. -15' lo' long. 775362 on September of 1950. The crew, capably advised hy Commodore liarl Wliite, picked Pete Tanner for captain. Our maiden voyage took us to distant Arabia, lat. 2Of3O' long. 403502 where King Dave Lapp and Queen Gretchen Cuyle reigned for our one night shore leave. Long to be remem- bered are Mr. Deminiak's salty remarks and Mr. Dicken's skillful teachings in log writing. Our second year at sea found us under the navigating skills of Captain Phil McPher- son with Mrs, Lalonde helping to chart the course. We soon received sealed orders to set sail for Vally Echo, lat. 43O10' long. 7703-6', where we thoroughly enjoyed our second night of leave. That year we undertook our study of nautical geography with Admiral Frank Haven instructing. i , K, v, -N , rg , s LO 47 V I pl!! byd Ui 1 I0 Q U y gal UW , L vc' N! 11 ki , 1 . After careful computations and skillful navigation, our good ship reached the port of Paris, lat. 4892O' long. 2040', where the crew had a gala evening under the Eiffel Tower featured in April In Paris . The chosen regal pair for the night were Dave Lapp and Kitty Sillick. Wliile learning the ropes with Miss Butler's nautical vocabulary lists, the third year seamen became C-sick from Mr. Hahn's naval history tests. Our last year at Naval Academy com- menced with Dick Tetzlaff's selection as Cap- tain and the annual Senior Magazine Drive to outfit our Ship. Guiding from the foc'sle were Miss Averill and Mr. Hahn. The year's voyage took us to the mystical Through The Looking Glass , lat. 50f38' long. 543231 a colorful fantasy where Dick Tetzlaff and Paula Dwyer ascended the throne in the cor- onation ceremony. College boards, scholar- ship exams and senior projects rushed us up to june. just before graduation the whole crew was wined and dined at the annual Senior Banquet on the roof of the Sheraton Hotel. Commencement is soon to come and we will probably receive our seamen's papers, a symbol of four years' work. Ahead lie vast and unchartered waters waiting to test our newfound skills.
