TION T 1 A GOOD LUCK IN RETIREMENT! 1 l ' Debbie Scherer recieves her first diploma In keeping with the theme of the Tiger Times, we would like to thank the man behind the “Re- Admit Slips’’- it’s about time to thank Mr. McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie came to Ipswich High School in September 1958 as a math teacher and then later became vice principal. His trademark-jingling keys-can be heard echoing throughout the school. John Thomas, IHS Class of 1967, remembers that those keys struck fear into all students deterring misbehaver. All it would take was the sound of those keys; their effect is just as potent in 1989 as it was in 1958. It’s also rumored that in 1966 Mr. McKenzie had a plethora of wild ties to hand out to young men who had “forgotten” their own. It is further rumored that he had a ruler to measure young women’s skirts to make sure they were below the knees. Joseph Rogers, our past principal, wonders if Mr. McKenzie remembers the “Old School” and the student, Rollie Singer! Times have changed since the “Old School,” but Mr. McKenzie has continued to always be available for students. He is a caring friend looking out for our best interests. Without him, graduation would never come about. His never ending energy, advice, and constant guidance to classes over the years cannot be measured. He has educated us in every meaning of the word- from freshman orientation to graduation rehearsal. Thank you for everything Mr. McKenzie- you will be missed. 3

DEDIO The Best Of Times The best of times is now. What’s left of summer but a faded rose? The best of times is now. As for tomorrow, well, who knows? who knows? So hold this moment fast. And live and love as hard as you know how. Hold it fast. And make this moment last because the best of times is now, Now, not some forgotten yesterday. Now, tomorrow is too far away. And make this moment last because the best of times is now. By Jerry Herman
