Fall in Ipswich is not only one of the most interesting times of year but the most colorful as well. The first day of school soon arrives and the leaves begin to change from shades of green to brilliant hues of red and orange. New freshmen, decorated in their best clothes, hug the walls of the halls to make way for sometimes over-confidant Sophomores, rowdy Juniors and smooooth Seniors. When warnings sneak up on us at the half way mark of the quarter, we wake up and realize that we’re really back in school. Fall sports seasons start. Football posters appear around school, and the Seniors grab the option of sponsoring the first dance to raise money from the Freshmen who are sure to attend. It is a time of adjustment for all: New schedules, new teachers and for the students ' and Faculty, a new principal. This year we are becoming accustomed to many new faces, especially those of the workmen constructing a new roof and locker room. An enforced system of rules in 1985 has also changed our attitudes toward our school and toward our sometimes frequent absences. What conscientious I.H.S student would be caught without his or her student parent handbook? For entertainment we look forward to the annual Octoberfest at Don Bosco and the Topsfield Fair. Colombus Day is the first three day weekend of Fall and Thanksgiving is not far behind. The Fall season is also a time for celebrations: Halloween parties-where we ' re, supposed to wear a costume but seldom do, and a first for Ipswich: Homecoming. Though Fall in Ipswich is certainly different from the Summer season one similarity definitely exists: When the bell ending classes rings at 2: 1 1 on Friday, the familiar question soon arises . . . “Where’s the Party?!’’
