You can lead a man to college, but you cannot make him think. POOR DOG'

COLE’S POND When the balmy south wind gently blows Across the campus green; When every Prof from his classroom goes, And the bell says “Four-fifteen”; When every student in dull unrest Casts off the toiler’s bond— Then give to me my treasured rest, On the banks of “Cole’s Pond.” i I For there the sun scarce finds its way Through the elms upon the hill; There near the closing of the day, When everything is still; There when the golden twilight’s nigh, In a maze of memories fond; But few who know how lovers sigh As they slowly leave “Cole’s Pond.” • • ! When Seniors muse of caps and gowns At the time of graduation, And the “shark” or co-ed frets and frowns At the thought of examination— When professors dream of wealth and kings, And fame in the great beyond, I sit and think of better things On the banks of “Cole’s Pond.”
