It had its regular meetings in class rooms until some ten years after its birth when it secured its present commodious hall. Shortly after this they became incorporated and obtained their charter from the state on the fourth of April, 1868. “Philo” has been a very valuable part of the college and can point to a history of peace and prosperity. Its graduates can now be found in every part of the globe, and many are occupying positions of honor and trust, and are beckoning the present Philomatheans onward and upward.

The work being done in this society, as well as the others, is of high order, and is the result of a true literary spirit. “Iiypat,” as Ruthean, found a home in with an older brother, and is now sharing the luxuries offered by the newly refurnished Philo Hall.
