It will continue eleven man football next fall, but will also have a new 6 man team for the Nishna Conference. ISD wil abandon eleven man football .md use six man for its regu- lar 1958 schedule. Last fall ISD lost 5 games and won only one from the Kansas School for the Deaf at Homecoming. Though our team was green, it gave many thrills. It deserves admiration and praise because it was full of determination and courage and played to the best of its ability. Mardi Gras Football Basketball Track President of class Mr. Swain Sponsor in l954'56 Left to West Virginia School for the Deaf Class Prophecy Q by Shirley McLelandj It's hot summer. The air is filled with the smell of a fresh salty sea, which is seen with several white sails, while the breeze whispers softly near and far. The world seems very quiet from the high bluff of a Naples Castle where I sit quitely on the porch terrace in the hot sun. Life is getting dull and I am growing restless when fortuf nately, my maid delivers my mail. She hands me something that looks familiar. I open it to see what it is f - oh, it is our old school paper, the Hawkeye News. It is the first time in IO years that it has finally reached me. As I start to read, I notice a headline, Class of 1957 Having A Reunion. Oh, how disappointed I am since I had to miss it. But I am thrilled to know what my class- mates are doing at this time. The first young lady to be presented at the class reunion was Miss Carol Porter, now a private secretary to the head of the Rockfeller Building in New York City. A big man with his favorite cigar came along to ISD with his lovely wife and four offsprings - two girls and two boys and all chubby, from Kansas City, Kansas, where he has operated his own printing business. Oh. he's good old chubby joedy Coffman! Two gentlemen, now wearing grey hair, are still living in good old Iowa and they are especially enjoying their jobs as printers in Davenport. They are Gerald Myers and Roland Thompson. Roland adds that he is still chasing beautiful girls. A couple just celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary and it is reported that they were the first ones to get married in this class. They are Mr. and Mrs, Marion Van Manen, fNorma Prinej and they proudly brought along with them R three boys! Marion is now an atomic researcher in hot, dry Arizona. Norma stays home with the boys. The school is mighty proud of its record, its girls captured the finals in the State Tournament. The tall man with plenty of encouragement for the girls was said to be Dennis Wernimont, our basketball hero! He especially enjoys his bachelors life! john Gannon may be a little disapf pointed, but is proud of the five big healthy girls in his family. He especially loves his best cook - his own wife. He is now oper' ating his father's farm. Everyone was thrilled to head the ad- ventures from Alaska where a blonde girl, the former Janice Booy went vacationing with her husband who is now the General of the Air Force. They said that they also enjoyed their two little ones. Libby Kaplan now is the owner of a Children's Home where she has never en' joyed life so much. Sharon Kay, Libby's as- sistant, enjoys it, too. The class reunion went perfectly with sunny weather, thanks to the weatherman, Robert Kline, now working under the Weather Bureau in his hometown, Albia. Everyone enjoyed the former Barbara Pospisil's chatters. She is now married, has three sweet little girls and is living happily in southwestern California. Our muscular man, Floyd Hoffman, came along, too, with his lovely wife and new offspring. He reported that he enjoys farm life near his hometown. He reports that he raises about 40 head of cattle yearly. Harris Daggett is happier than ever, someone reported, since he now operates his own business near Duluth. Minnesota. Someone must be wealthy in this group. He won the S6-4,000 Question several years ago. He now runs the city library in his hometown, Sioux City, and also an author of the best-selling mystery book, The Secret Plot and his name is Herbert Anderson. But wheres Shirley? My, I really laughed at this! Well, after all, I have been vacationing in this Naples Castle in Naples, Italy. I am a secretary to a professor of Texas University. You better guess more. We were happily married with a swell family - two kids Class Will L'pon behalf of my client, the class of l95 . of lowa School for the Deaf. of Coun- cil Bluffs. lowa. XX'e have called you together upon this solemn and serious occasion, to listen to our last will and testament. and to receive from our dying hand the few gifts we have to bestow in our last moments, Cutting so rap- idly loose from school and finding so many things of such gigantic proportions to be at- tended to before the end should come upon us. realizing at the same time that we have no longer any time left to spend in cultiva- tion of our own virtues, we did collectively and individually. deem it best to distribute these virtues with our own hands to those friends to whose needs they seem best fitted. We would like to leave our gratitude to Mr. Berg for many happy years at ISD and for the many other opportunities he has made available for us.
