Iowa Park Cheerleaders — Hard Work Worth the Victories Up at six a.m. and ready to work out by seven-thirty until about five o’clock in the evening, the Iowa Park Cheerleaders have spent all summer preparing for the 1984-85 football and basketball season. They have been through early mornings, tedious exercises, plenty of hard work, lots of money, and a shortage of free time just to fit into a tiny skirt and be peppy for twenty-four hours of the day. As a newcomer to the 1984-85 Hawk cheerleaders. Gina Weaver adds. “People just don’t realize how hard it actually is.’’ But it doesn’t stop there. After the long dedicated summer, they spend their time practicing nearly every day after school, using spare time to prepare for pep rallies and games, and toughing it out through all kinds of weather. But they have surpassed the hardships and all agree that it was worth every bit of it when they won runner-up for the squad of ex cellence and many other individual awards at summer camp. Of course their benefits come in other forms also, one of which in- cludes getting to know each other and many other of the students much better. Most of them agree that cheerleading has definitely made them more outgoing. They have had the opportunity to ac- complish and that has given them personal satisfaction and as Brian Todd says, “We have had a lot of fun with it.” So the Hawk Cheerleaders have worked very hard to gain a positive response for the players from the crowd, to enthuse the students, to have a little bit of fun. and to get a little bit of notoriety for what they do best. To these cheerleaders it is all worth it when the Hawks show their might and do what they do best. Says Holly Farnsworth, You feel like you have actually participated when they are victorious.” So this page is dedicated to you, the 1984-85 Hawk Cheerleaders, for all your hard work, time and dedication to all the Varsity Hawk teams.
