Most of the juniors seem to agree that this year has passed by rather quickly, but with no regrets to turn back. Says Cindy Harper, “The people in our class are really close and next year we will probably be even closer. An example of closeness and class participation was when the weather turned warm, the juniors gathered for a picnic during a regular school lunch. There have also been many times when a group of nine or ten get together to see a show or just ride around and have some fun. But the close relationships are only one foreshadow of what the senior class of '85 will be like. Another anticipation of the Jr. class was waiting for May 4. This was the date of the Annual Iowa Park Competition Day. Having a very good year, the juniors managed to win first and second positions in football and volleyball. Although they did not capture very many spots in the indoor activities, everyone agrees that it was a lot of fun to compete. For all students competition day is a break in studies to spend time with all their friends and have a great time at competiting with seniors and underclassmen. As Kendell Hill puts it, Competition Day is beneficial to everyone,” he says it gives students a chance to relax and have fun all day while still on campus. The Iowa Park School System picked up a new program this 1984 school year. This program is Intramural Sports. Headed by Coach Frazier, along with an Intramural Council, it is designed to occupy those students who do not participate in regular school sports. It also consists of those who do not participate in other sports, but would like to play for fun. Miss Intramural Lisa Selby Intramural Council members are: I to r. First row, Melinda Scheffe. LaDonna Wilkerson. Debbie Fullerton, and Lisa Selby I to r, back row: Van Hedrick. Ray Sef cik. Lisa Sefcik. Jan Hale. Cindy Wells. Heather Hausler. and Charles Perry. Featuring both juniors and sophomores, these girls did a fine job of representing our school not only in athleticism but in sportsmanship as well. Those sophomores who pitched in at the pep rallies enough to capture individual spirit sticks are as follows: George Blackwell, Randy Boutwell, Dawna Bradford, Mike Brooks, Steve English, Steve Johnson, Jamie Keller, Crystal Lewis, Ray Sefcik, Rhonda Wagner, and Lorraine Warner. A year older and a little wiser, the enthusiasm to achieve a status and be recognized a little more was all that was in the minds of this year’s sophomore class. Experiencing something a little different, says Steve Johnson, meaning he gets more respect than when he was a freshman, Steve also says that his sophomore year can be described as “really fun.” From the girls point of view, Debbie Smith, who is a newcomer this year hesitates when she says being a sophomore is “fun ... kinda boring.” But as the school year went by and summer came from around the corner, it was once again time for every teachers' nightmares to start because drivers education was offered to all students. Consisting mainly of sophomores, the general consensus of these students was “Finally ... I wonder which car my parents will let me drive?” 0) Sopfc0 65 66 Gillian Allen Steve Allen Cheryl Barker Steve Bowen Michelle Brewer Amy Brillhart Michael Brooks Mindy Brown Lynne Brumbeloe Justen Bush Dale Church Eddie Collins Pam Conner Kelsy Corless Pamela Courtney Kellie Daulton Richard Davis Kelly Dickerson Doug Dietrichson Monique Edwards Sandra Eittreim Tina Escue Laurie Espinoza Lance Farris Class of ’87 Fr e 67 Scott Featherston Sheila Fedo Gregory Feltman Lisa Fletcher Michael Fletcher Emilie Flick Danny Foreman Jimmy Frantz Marla Frye Jason Gholson Lynda Gibbons Lisa Grace Dana Gray Larry Green Christena Gregg Brett Hale Becky Hankins Maxine Hill Melissa Hill Bryan Hoodenpyle Stephen Hudson 68 Brad Huff Shelley Jackson Darrell Johnson Lewis Johnson Annette Jones Rachel Jones Dawna Kellogg Gary Kissner Leona Kyser Melissa Logan Clinton Loggins Kyle Long Scott Lyles Derrick Martin Melissa M ithews Jerry Mayes Terry McClung Stephanie McCord Michelle Mcllhenny Fres LaChelle McKinley Andy Melchiori Kristi Meracle Jeff Merklin Stacy Miller Karin Moore Sonny Moore Richard Morath Kim Nicholson Vicky North Wayne Ottman Jamie Owens Sarah Owens Debra Parks Natalie Patterson Ronnie Patterson Dennis Phillips Christi Pickens Carla Pool Lyennette Priebe Jodi Pryor Tina Reasor Lisa Reeves Kerri Richardson KyleRickr| Rhorvid RnM Iron RoutH Amy Russell Melissa Schmitt Kristen Sharpe Kimberly Sims Rec- • Smith Gaylene Sorey Teresa Sparlin Charles Stamm John Stevenson Steven Stiles Lana Swan John Teel C FresW 71 72 Phillip Thames Shelly Thomas Melinda Thomason Jana Thompson Lee Todd Wendy Trantham Tammie Tyler Laurie Underwood George Van Dee Angela Wachsmann Ronnie Wagner Katherine Walker David Ward Denise Ward Stacy Ward Scott Weaver Robert Welker Melissa Wells Eric Whitman John Williams Michael Williams Kerry Wilson Robert Wilson Barry Womble Brandon Woodman Sharon Wynn Tracy Young As the freshmen pull through the last days of school, as to what seems a lifetime of being the bot- tom man they look back at some of the embarrassing feats that have given them their recognition. Some of which include walking into wrong classes, losing track of various items, and opening their mouths when unnecessary. They did however, manage to do some things right — like winning the spirit stick on the day of the Vernon and Boswell games. Individuals with “The biggest mouths were recognized also as follows: Steve Allen, Michele Brewer, Doug Dietrichson, Brett Hale, Brad Huff, Lance Farris, Christene Gregg, Richard Morath, John Teel, and Melissa Wells. The Football team had a little more difficulty this year but seemed to get through with a record of 4-6 and jumped right in for basketball ending with 4-8. The girls did a little better after a slow start and finished with 8 wins and 10 losses. All in all the freshman members of Iowa Park High did okay and when asked how they liked their first year, one was quoted as saying, “We Can Handle it!” Compliments of King’s Kids Christian Daycare and Preschool “Iowa Park’s finest for parents who care’’ 202 N.
