The New , .- ,..-17' A 'vis ' .GW Need for additional dormitory space as well as modern academic facilities for the student nurses was recognized in 1959. This resulted in a decision by the Board of Directors to build an addition to the 1922 nurses' residence. Work on this new addition began in November 1960. The new building, which cost 31, 100, 000, contains dormitory space with 40 double rooms, faculty offices, and a conference room. There is a lecture room and a class room, each seating 72 students, a library seating 60, and an auditorium on the ground floor with a seat- ing capacity of 250 persons. Dedication ceremonies will be held in the summer of 1962.

At first, part of the hospital was utilized. Later two private homes were purchased for this purpose, A need for a permanent nurses residence was seen in 1921. The 3245, O00 building was erected and dedicated in April, 1922.
