Involvement is the word that could be used to de- scribe the newly formed College Republicans club. Co-sponsored by Mr. john Crawford and Mr. Theo- dore Kappes, the club has 35 members. One of the first activities supported by CR was the State Young Republicans Convention held at Hotel Kirkwood in Des Moines, Nov. 7-8. Nine delegates represented the local club. jack Zadow, transfer student to ICCC, Eagle Grove Campus, from Buena College Republicans, New Club at Eagle Grove Center Vista College, was elected State Vice Chairman. Other events attended by the College Republicans were the Grinnell Leadership Conference and the Lincoln Day Dinner. The club was also busy on the local level. Special guest for the January meeting was State Auditor Lloyd Smithg other Republicans in the Eagle Grove community were invited to hear Mr. Smith speak. ISEA Hosts Regional The Student Iowa State Education Association, a pro- fessional organization for those interested in education, was busy with a diversified program of activities. The year opened with a presentation of three one-act plays to develop a better understanding of the benefits of membership in SISEA and off the rights and responsibil- ities of the professional members. Various regional meetings and the state convention were attended by the members. The big project of the year was the hosting of the Spring Regional Meeting at the Eagle Grove Campus. Pres. Carol Legg and Executive Committee Chr. Steve Kelling headed the organizationa activites. Student Senate Active in Solving Confznftunity College Problems FRONT ROW- -Dennis Brechler fpres.j, Gary Christiansen Cv. pres.j, Patricia Keppers Qsec. lst sem.j, Jayne Minikis Qtreas.j, Mr. William Bennett fspon.J, Marcia Kvale, Craig Kinseth. BACK ROW-- Under the direction of Pres. Denny Brechler, the Student Senate carried on routine business and also played an active role in solving some of the prob- lems that plague the Eagle Grove center. Working to draw the students into a closer student body, the Senate sponsored many activities, such as the fall student-faculty picnic, weekly feature films, tri- campus dances, the annual Christmas Cotillion, winter sledding parties, and the spring prom. A stereo was purchased by the Senate for lounge Leon Mulford, jerry DeBoom, Marcia Conaway, Robert Morgan, Jim Jorgensen, john Underbmg, Rand Cramer, Paul Dreasler, Verla Graves fsec. 2nd sem.j, Jim Knoll. dances that were held after basketball games and wrestling meets. Also with the lounge funds, the Senate purchased furniture for the second-floor hall, a flag pole, trees for landscaping, and a trophy case. ln February the Senate contracted for a pool table in the lounge. The Senate was not resistant to change, for they in- stituted new organizations and revised the constitution dealing with student-faculty representation.
