OE Members Give Service While Learning Skills Activity in the Eagle Grove Center Office Education program was not limited to the classroom. In pro- moting the Christmas season, the women held a pre- holiday novelty sale. The area women were invited to have coffee while they browsed through the vari- ous gifts, cards, and wrappings. A Christmas dinner at the Starlite and a Christmas coffee and gift ex- change at Mr. Phillips' were in the offering for those in the program. In addition, they printed Christmas letters and greeting cards for classmates, parents, and friends. In February members attended the State Office Edu- cation Leadership Conference in Des Moines. At the conference the trainees competed in various office- oriented contests. The state winners then were eli- gible to attend the National Office Education Lead- ership Conference which was held in Fort Worth, Texas, this year. Wyn Ann Allen represented Iowa and the local club at the National Conference, as she won the state Job Application Contest. The year was climaxed by the Employer-Employee Banquet. Several meetings were highlighted by guest speakers representing local businesses. At the january meeting two University of Iowa professors discussed busi- ness administration and business education programs with the members. Activity was not only restricted to business meetings, for there was much preparation for the State and National Conferences in local chapter meetings as well as at the October State PBL Planning Meeting held at the Univer- sity of Northern Iowa. PBL also sponsored such inter- school activities as the campus Snow Ball, half-time concession stands, a float for the Eagle Grove High School homecoming, and noon-time sandwich and candy sales, as well as community activities of taking a radio s1.u'vey and sponsoring a needy family at Christmas time. A large delegation attended the State PBL Conference at Boone in April. In june several flew with the Iowa dele- gation to Philadelphia to attend the National PBL Con- ference.
