Automotive Service Spec1'aI1'sz Program Begins The Automotive Service Specialist program was an eleven-month course designed to prepare students for jobs concerned with the maintenance and service of motor vehicles, Under the instruction of Mr, Jerome Fox and Mr. William Zentner, students studied the parts of an automobile as well as auto- motive sales and merchandising. During the program the students divided their time between the school ' and actual on-the-job training. Ed Stiles practices welding in a welding booth. Monte Kreger welds a project for Farm Power. Students Learn Essentials of Welding Daniel Cramer and Ronald Christenson make arc welds. Under the instruction of Mr. James Nelson, students in the eighteen-week welding program learned the skills necessary to become successful Welders. The course was conducted on a laboratory basis, with equipment comparable to that found in modern in- dustries. Students perfected their skills in oxacety- lene welding and cutting, A.C. and D.C. arc weld- ing, pipe Welding, gas tungsten and gas metal arc welding. They received related instruction in read- ing blueprints and welding symbols and in testing welds. Arc Welders also learn how to protect themselves. ?as?Q55ie'i2iz
