Students Practice Techniques 0fDraft1'rzg Under the instruction of Mr. Walter McCarty, students in the eleven-month long Mechanical Drafting pro- gram learned the skills necessary to become skilled draftsmen. The students were in school six hours a day during the program. About half the time was spent working at the drafting board, where the stu- dents practiced basic design, orthographic projections, elevations, lettering, line technique, computer de- sign, and free hand sketching. The remainder of the time was spent in receiving related training in such areas as communications, industrial mathematics, and machine shop processes. 1-N Jim Hartley studies drafting layouts.
