In order to become a member of the Society, a student must have a grade point aver- age of 3.25 a semester. If he manages to do this for just one semester, he earns the status of tem- porary membership. I-Iowever, if he can maintain this average for three semesters, he becomes a permanent member. The newly adopted name of this select. group is the Iowa Association of Com- munity Colleges and Vocational Technical Insti- tutes Honor Society. Top-ranking students in both the arts and sciences and vocational technical programs are eligible for membership.

Successful Students Honored The honor society is a statewide organization for which both Arts and Sciences and Voc-Tech stu- dents are eligible. A temporary member must carry at least 12 hours and have a 3.25 average for one semester. If this average is maintained for three consecutive semesters the student becomes a permanent member of the society. In cases involving pass or fail in Voc-Tech courses eligibility is determined by Voc-Tech officials. At an award ceremony and re- ception, where Mr. Feelhaver gave the main address, the per- manent members were honored with certificates and gold pins and the temporary members were given silver pins. Students became members of the Dean's List and Honor Roll by taking at least 12 semester hours and maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 and 3.0 respectively.
