M erehcmdz'sz'ng Experience Taught at I C C C In the twenty-one month Department Store Management Program, students received class- room training and on-the-job experience in re- tailing and merchandising management. Under the direction of Mr. Gerald Leberman, they studied introduction to business and department store marketing, salesmanship, retailing and human relations and participated in a department store seminar. Students also received laboratory instruction before gaining their field experience. In September, the students visited Dayton's De- partment store in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Food D1'slribut1'0n Requires Modern Techniques The twenty-one month Food Marketing course prepared qualified people for management and supervisory careers in the food distribution in- dustry. Under the supervision of Mr. Ronald Rath and Mr. Harold Frentress, the students re- ceived on-the-job training, working closely with the Iowa Retail Food Dealers Association. Their classroom instruction involved work in market- ing, salesmanship, retailing, management, and accounting. The Food Marketing students attended several conventions and seminars in areas such as meat cutting and management. They also attended the Iowa Retail Food Dealers Convention and visited the Red Owl Stores in Minneapolis and the Safeway warehouse in Omaha.
