When students think of Iowa Central they think of both. Iowa Central's vocational and technical pro- grams offer training in nursing, electronics, office work, engineering, welding, mechanics and distri- bution. VGC TECH Girls Learrz Computer Age Business Methods Linda Ramaeker interviews Mr. Phillips for practice. The Office Education students attended class from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. In the afternoon they went to jobs found for them through this program. This provided them not only with the skills they learn in the classroom but also with practical application of those skills in on-the- job training. Activities this year included the Leadership Con- ference on the state and national levels and the Em- ployer-Employee Banquet. A Thanksgiving luncheon for the present members and for those who had al- ready completed the program and were working nearby was also held, as was a pre-holiday coffee and a Christmas party at the Starlite restaurant in Fort Dodge. The program was conducted on a lab basis with equipment simulating a real office. The task of becoming a member of IACCVTI Honor Society is not one that many students easily achieve. In order to become a member of the Society, a student must have a grade point aver- age of 3.25 a semester. If he manages to do this for just one semester, he earns the status of tem- porary membership. I-Iowever, if he can maintain this average for three semesters, he becomes a permanent member. In cases involving pass or fail in Voc-Tech courses eligibility is determined by Voc-Tech officials.
