Green, Commander Battleship Division Two, has command of the only four U. S. battle- ships now in commission: MISSOURI, USS IOWA, USS WISCONSIN, and USS NEW JERSEY. As division commander he has military command and operational control of the ships in his division. His basic mission is to keep the battleships in the highest state of operational and battle readiness. To do this he and his stall' co- ordinate exercises, inspections, and all matters of training. COMIBATDIV-TWO in the performance of his duties is assisted by a staff of 6 oflicers and a flag allowance of 36 men. The flag allowance consists of many diversified rates-yeomen, quartermasters, journalists, boatswain mates, and radiomen, and is organized as the G Di- vision for administration by the flagship. DIVISION The Admiral always flys his flag on a battleship and moves from one-BB to another, depending on the schedule of his ships and the nature of their mission. For the past two months, COME.-X'lSDlV-'I'XVO has been assigned the task of planning for and carrying out Midshipman Cruise Baker to Northern Europe and Cuba. Rear Admiral Green relieved Rear Admiral H. R. Thuber, USN, on 7 November, 1952 and will complete a lOtll' of duty as COMIS.-XTDIV-'I'WO this fall. The Admiral has been a familiar face to all aboard and will be remembered as a good shipmate. During this cruise. he has visited all ships in the Task Group by highlinc: and in spite of the jolts encountered, feels the high- line is something to be preserved in the Navy.

FTER many days of eager anticipation, Scotland's capital more than ful hlled the expectations of all the crew. There were many hospitable people to greet the liberty parties on the street: in restaurants, pubs, and in the parks. For those interested in seeing the country there were more than ample oppor- tunities-at Edinburgh Castle, Sir Walter Scott Memorial and many other scenic spots. One day tours were arranged which included some of the most colorful spots in Scotland: The Trossaclis, which was the inspiration of Sir Walter Scott's Lady of the Lake , Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen ol' Scots: Stirling Castle, a replica of lidinburgh Castleg and the awe-inspiring Loch Lomond. Around each bend in the roatl was scenery so majestic and beautiful that it was difhcult to believe that it was natural. XVhile in plaque from the United States Navy to the memory of john Paul jones. The ceremony took place at the birthplace of john Paul jones at Kirkdean. Other oflicials at the ceremony were Scotl Edinburgh Rear Admiral Green presided at the dedication ofa and's Iiarl of Home, Winthrop W. Aldrich, U. S. Ambassador to Great Ilritaing Vice Admiral Gerald Wright CINCNELM: and various other high ranking officers of the U. S. Navy and H. M. Royal Navy. The plaque was unveiled by a British Sea Cadet, a great-great-grand nephew of john Paul jones, and a U. S. Midshipman. Honors were rendered by the Fifth Battalion of the King's Own Guard, a bagpipe and drum corps. Watching the men come back, from liberty one could see a smile on every face, arms full of cashtnere sweaters a l nt tartans, and many'stomachs full of good beef 01' SCOUTIT- YCS, lidinburgh with it's friendly people, interesting Sh0pS, and plentiful pubs was considered by many as the best liberty port yet.
