I1 These pictures and reminiscences preserve in prim our memories as a fighting ship of the United States Navy during the Hrst year of our resurgence from the mothhall fleet. This ship has been our home for a vear and more. These are our guns, that have pounded the enemy on his home soil and made him feel the might of our United States. On this ship we met, sailors old and new, from fleets and training stations, and formed ourselves into a working team together. And as we go our ways to other ships and stations, our Korean Cruise ended, we go in the pride that on this tnightiest man of war afloat we have served as man-of-warsmen in the old tradition. There is no ship that sails the seven seas whose guns are mightier than ours. No ship afloat has engines more powerful than ours. No battleship in the world has greater ability to with- stand punishment and survive than we. But these proud things are less important to us than our sure confidence that in no ship of our Navy could we find better shipmates or a finer spirit. This is our ship!
