ABC invested $35 million - and 14 hours of primetime- in a controversial, what-if miniseries . about a Soviet takeover of the U.S. in 1996. It ended up lengthy and worse yet, boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many people gave up watching f , TV, [if possible,] and turned on the HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, ESPN, etc. Cable was extremely popular,except,of course, in the country. Iran Arms Sales created many problems in our nation- Reason lost much respect popularity, while Oliver North's secretary Fawn Hall gained much exposure! The arms hostage swap was sadly unsuccessful, as Iran ' still held hostages, and American citizens in + Iran were still in danger. Tragedy continued in the spring as many people • were drowned by the capsizing of an English ferry, • due to an unclosed door. AIDS scares continued to sock the nation.
