“t?mm te n?@F te If anyone were to demand proof of Ionia’s continuing advancements, they could reach in the IHS improvement box and pull out numerous items, one of which could definately be the long-awaited prom change. No, the change was not the dress code (The tuxes were still rented, and dresses were still fussed over for weeks.) The Junior Class representatives, led by president Sheri Cusack, went to the school board, and asked permission to hold prom in Grand Rapids. Although the switch met with many concerned parental grievances, Prom 1986 (dinner-dance) was held at the Hoffman House in Grand Rapids, on the Third of May, at 8:00 p.m. The dinner selections were Prime Rib, and chicken Cordon bleu, both with veggie plate and salad. Eating with everyone who attended prom was an experience in itself, and we're sure everyone used their best table manners! Carnival, a band from G.R, provided the music after dinner. The prom theme was A Rainbow Romance, with everything decorated in pastels by the sophomore servers. Traditionally, complimentary wine glasses were given to each couple. As always, on Sunday, many couples got around early in the morning and left again, this time for Silver Lake and the sand dunes! With the new arrangements mixed with the old traditions, Prom 1986 was a most memorable occasion. 1. It looks like Jenny caught the bouquet! 2. Tammy Davis and Dave Ward take a break from the action. 3. Sophomore servers relax after a long evening. 4. Mike Gallagher and Anissa Helman, with SueAnn Brady and Tom Dick stroll along with the Grand March. 5. Juniors and Seniors dance and are merry while some choose to just be merry. Bo plans the Big 10 championship with various members of the Wolverines. Michigan was cheered on by many loyal Ionia fans. The Blue and Gold were also convinced this was the ELECTRIC YEAR!!!! Prom 25
