My Fair Lady Caps Year Ionia High School presented the musical My Fair Lady, this year. This play was last performed in Ionia in 1965. The play was directed by Mr. Raymond Monte. In charge of the vocal part of the play was Miss Judy Schnebly. Directing the pit orchestra was Mr. Charles Brill. In this play Professor Higgins is out on an endless quest to study the London language. He meets Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney speaking flower girl that lives in the streets. Colonel Pickering, a linguistic expert, bets Higgins that he can't make Eliza into a proper lady. Eliza wants Higgins help, so she agrees to live at his flat for 6 months and get speaking instruction from him. Mrs. Pierce, Higgins's maid, helps Eliza clean up and pick her clothes so she will look presentable to the public. A nice looking young man, Freddy Eynsford Hill, falls hopelessly in love with Eliza. Mr. Doolittle, Eliza's father, is a comical drunk who lives in the streets. After much work Higgins decides that it is time to test the new Eliza in public. This test turns out to be quite an experience for everyone present. Opening night for the Spring Musical was April 24. Other performance nights were April 25,30, May 1 and 2. 20 Spring Play
