Ionia High School's spirit week 1986 was better than ever, a great success! Most of the student body participated, starting on Monday- Clash day Pizza eating contest. The winners of Clash day were Carrie Weaver, Jon Taylor, and Mrs. Rameau. Winners of the Pizza eating contest were Brian Patrick and Mr. Warner. Opposite Sex day Grape stuffing contest followed on Tuesday. Winners were Kevin Selfridge, Meg Rothfelder, and Mrs. Breining, who found themselves in strange closets that morning. The Grape stuffing contest was won by Brian Patrick, and traditionally Mr. Warner. Wednesday, Each class participated in Rainbow day. Seniors wore red, Juniors- green, Sophomores-yellow, and the Freshman wore blue. First lunch and Second lunch competed in the Van Stuff. First lunch crammed 50 people, and Second lunch won with 59 people. Even though Thursday was skip day and no classes were held, the student council held a bonfire Thursday night. Friday finally arrived as traditional blue and white day football toss. Dave Pierce won the Blue and White contest. The winners of the football toss were freshmen Rhonda Dankenbrink and Sam Sage; Sophomores were Tammy Droste and Brian Gorby; Juniors were Anissa Helman and Matt Hofkamp; and Seniors were Karen Wood and Cort Skoog. We've been trying and trying to tell Matt that the hoop is for basketball, but he still thinks it's more fun to use it for chin-ups. This giant slammed us into the ELECTRIC YEAR!!! Spirit Week 11

Elk's Host vmmmmm m Homecoming 1986 featured a major return to tradition. For the second year in a row, there was a Homecoming parade which traveled through downtown Ionia as part of the pre-game festivities. Just as the halftime show was about to arrive, class representatives and members of the court made their way around the track in convertibles. The I.H.S. Marching Band, led by Drum Major Jon Taylor, put on a special halftime show. The band concluded by playing the Bulldog fight song as the Homecoming court and representatives were announced. Class representatives included Freshmen Brent Ferguson and Shawna Hood; Sophomores Chris Caswell and Satin Simon; and Juniors Joe Herald and Jennifer Jones. Tim Antonides and Kathy Montgomery were crowned king and queen by Mr. Rood and Lynn Sterner. The 1986 senior court consisted of Jennifer Badder, Amy Baylis, Sheri Cusack, Julie Kowatch, Tom Droste, Jeff Halstead, Brett Zuver, and Kim Wittenbach. 1.
