The marching bcmd The marching band consisting ol 57 members supported all of the basketball and football home games besides strutting their stuff tor window night and Memorial day The band was led on their pertorrnances by drum major lane-t Todd maiorettes Virginia Pelon loyce Steele Bea Brown and lane Temelco and alternating mas cots Mariorie Helms and Martorie Bhoades Claiming the title ol the largest organization in the high school the lonia high school concert band ol x6 members entertained the public Feb ruary 6 at the Church ol Christ along with the a cappella choir boys chorus and dance band April 23 the concert band combined its talents with the girls' glee club in presenting another public performance. The concert band also ape peared at the fourth war loan drive teachers' ine stitute and class day. The band personnel consisted ot a very wide variety ot talent. The small but important flute section was upheld by Louise Slykes Patricia Clay and lanet Todd while Margaret Strand played the one and only bassoon. Four horns played by Bobbie Bowne Alice Weisgerber Robe In Step W1th the T1me ert Sholtens and loanne Todd lent their mellow tone blending with saxophones under the com nnand of lack Fox Lois Anslow Dorothy Glossi Marian Bailey Marilyn Coe Ian Hicks Betty Wil cox Bob Black and Betty Totten The deep tones came from the bass section supported by Pat Wilder Richard Kullan David Piper Marvin Bob inson and Kent Baymor The clarinet section largest in the band included Bob Whitesides Tom Blackmore Bog Buxton Ioan Bowne Lucile Gallagher Marilyn Boyd Burton Bssex lean Dunbar Bichard Burlingame lack Wilcox Lee Gleason lohn Morris LaVone Gardner Ioyce Fox loyce Winchell Dolores Wilder Mary I Dodes loan Higbee Beverly Kingston and Georgiabelle lenks. Baritone horns were played by Donald Funk Nancy Hilton lo Anne loslin and Mary Io loslin. The two bell lyres sent out their rinaing under the touch ot Carleymae War- den and Iune McClow. A strong cornet section re- sulted trom the combined ettorts ol lohn Barnes Russell Breckon Charles Markle Don Greenhoe Baymond Lower Frank Alfonso Marilyn Bies Dwight Stewart Hugh Hodges Don Oliphant High steppers The sax trio I Fw
