Reierson. School started on September 5, with forty-five Freshmen beginning their first year of high school. It didn't take them long to get adjusted. The following officers were selected: Connie Leean, President, Ann Sorenson Vice President, Joe Leean Treasurer, and Caryl Radant, Secretary. hepresenting us on the Student Council were Darrel Tschurwald and Karen Moe. Our first big day was the Freshman Welcome Party. We had loads of fun. Next came the carnival. Our float was of nHumpty Dumpty.u That ni ht we had our side show entitled The Z1+,ooo Guess What!u It was quite a success. Dale Louison, Ronald Rosenthal, Darrell and Lloyd Tschurwald, David Johnson, Gary Rierson and Joe Leean rep- resented us on the NBN team. Our Freshman cheerleader was Ann Sorenson. On October 1, 1956, eight newly elected Stu- dent Council members met with the President, James Dimmock, and advisor, Mr. Bizer,to begin a new year. After a short talk about the duties and re- sponsibilities of being a Council member, we elected the following officers: Vice Pres., Kenny Danielson, Secretary, Shirley Loken, and Treasurer, Ruth John- son. Our first big project was the carnival which was held on October l9,l956. We set up booths and games J. Gjertson, J. Oligney R. Toebaas, C. Sorenson. 7 in the new portion of the old gym and did a pretty good job. We had a good time,too. During the year the Stu- dent Council sponsored the sale of candy at noon, noon hour recreation, social hours, the clothing drive, and the March of Dimes party. To round out the year we presented the annual eighth grade day. The Student Council has endeavored to uphold and improve the standards of the school and to adopt policies for the better- ment of all concerned. -:gr ,ff -A: if ,f5' sg X The one-act play chosen for this year was nwhich is the way to Boston?n. It concerned an old superstition based on the belief that if a man came to the door and asked which was the way to to Boston, someone in the house would die. Someone came, and they thought the sick girl would die. As the play ends the old man's wife dies. The play cast went to Marion on November 7, 1957 and received a HBH rating. '
