Glau Jloiic-fuf It was back in August 1946 when 34 green freshmen climbed up the hill to start their four years of study in lola High School. After a few days Elsie Lewison and Eleanor Klepps joined our class thus bringing our enrollment to 36. During the year Joan Davis and Martin Beyers- dorf left us. As usual we received our traditional welcome, better known as in- itiation. The party was held on September 7, at which each of us per- formed our stunts and were treated to a lunch. Our teachers during our freshman year were: Mr. Mork--principal and General Business, Miss Cleaves--English, Mr. Krienke--science, Mrs. Knutson--citizenship, Mr. Peterson--commercial and band director, Mrs. Mortenson --vocal. As we started our sophomore year we found Delores Hanson, Kermit Taylor, Durane Roloff, Edwin Carley and Eleanor Klepps had left us, but we gained two new members--Dorothy Austin and Frances Heald. During the year Irma Grauvunder left us. All the teachers were the same as our freshman year except Mr. Kit- ze had replaced Mr. Mork as principal, Mr. Peterson was replaced by Mrs. Wrolstad in commercial work and by Mr. Weber as band director. Due to illness Mr. Weber was later replaced by Mrs. Weiler. When we started our junior year we found Sally Brekke, Harold Zell- mer, Francis I-Ieald and Marion Mickelson had left us. We now had the small total of 26. During this year Donna Fietzer and Lyle Peschke left us' The biggest event of our junior year was the Prom which was held in honor of the Senior class on April ZZ, 1949. The theme song was Under- neath the Arches and the music was furnished by Duke Janda and his Or- chestra. The gym was decorated with pink, nile green, and white stream- ers . The theme was carried out with an arch effect. The king, Donald Olson, and his queen, Elsie Lewison, led the grand march. The attendants were June Roe, Charlotte Aronson, and Lois Morrison. Our Junior class play, Girls are Like That , was presented on Feb- ruary 3, 1949. Those in the cast were Shirley Bergen, Charlotte Aronson, Mildred Narlock, Doris Solberg, June Roe, Shirley Winkler, Sid Ellingson, David Nelson, Arlo Olson, and Elsie Lewison. i We started out in our senior year with an enrollment of Z7 but during the year Luella Georgeson and Bonnie Schmidt left us bringing our total to 2.5. As our senior year draws to a close we look back on the pleasant mem- ories of our four years spent in lola High School. T' -
