ROW imfwell Permebslcer Sheffield I Hughes and Lemdwirth 1 JK Envy ian Aelton 132,61 GIRLS' BASKETBALL FOR 1959 '50 The girls' basketball team had a very suc cessful season this year We were in the finals of the Leland and the tleveland Tourna ments We defeated some strong teams such as Shaw and Glen Allen in the Cleveland Tournament ln the tournament in Tupelo we were defeated by the strong Bond team We had three girls to make the All Delta Tournament Team They were Evelyn Hufhes, Nell Pennebaker and Jean Sheffleld These girls dld outstanding work through the season We played 30 games durinv the season We won 20, lost 9, and tied l We scored a total of ll62 points against the opponents 894 while we did not show up very well lH our own Central Delta Conference Tournament, we placed second in both the Leland Tournament and the Delta flnals After defeating Silver City 29 18 ln our first Central Delta Conference game, we lost to Louise in three overtlme periods in our second game of that tournament Real highllghts for us were the two early season vi tories over Indlanola, a victory over Leland at Leland, a hard fought victory ofer Shaw in our first Delta Finals game, and the last minute victory over Glen Allen to place us 1D the Delta Flnals at Cleveland .- - Q 1 ' '. . , rs I . o I 1 ' I r J- ' CD 1, .
